Ghana Code Club is a non-profit committed to exposing all elementary school kids especially the girl child to computer science activities in Ghana. Children between the ages of 8-16 gain basic computing skills while learning to make their own games, animations and build their own websites. Our team move from school to school organising after school coding sessions while training interested teachers to continue with club activities from that school, We provide project guide and materials needed to make each session fun. Club sessions are scheduled to run at least once a week for not more than 2hrs. Healthy Career Initiative, a Non Governmental Organization registered in Ghana are the organizers of the Code Clubs.
WHY SHOULD KIDS LEARN TO CODE?
Children who are given the opportunity to learn to code now will be better equipped to succeed in a world which increasingly requires digital skills. Coding is a skill which children use at school, but it can also play a role in their hobbies and careers; helping them become doctors, artists, engineers and more. This is because in learning to code, particularly in a group setting, children develop a series of additional skills.
Coding develops analytical thinking, improves decision-making and problem solving nnskills. Learning to code at a young age will help you understand and solve problems in almost nnany disciplines in life.
When kids learn to code, they are coding to learn. When kids learn to code, they are learning important computational and mathematical concepts such as iteration, variables, and nnconditionals.
Teaching kids how to code is a smart career planning, it helps them to be prepared for the demands of jobs in computerized world in this 21st century.
