The Ghana Code Club is an after-school program that teaches children computer programming skills. Children between ages 5-17 can join any of our coding programs from Schools, Community Centers and Libraries to learn to create computer games, animations, interactive arts, websites and mobile apps.

Why Should Kids learn to code?

Children who are given the opportunity to learn to code now will be better equipped to succeed in a world which increasingly requires digital skills. Coding is a skill which children use at school, but it can also play a role in their hobbies and careers; helping them become doctors, artists, engineers and more. This is because in learning to code, particularly in a group setting, children develop a series of additional skills.

How it Started...

Ghana Code Club was founded by Ernestina Appiah through her registered NGO Healthy Career Initiative in Ghana in 2015.

Ernestina believes that computer programming and other technical skills is a tool of empowerment. This is the reason why she has formed a team with a mission to ensuring that every child and youth particularly girls have access to the skills they need to thrive in our increasingly digital world. We envision a prosperous Ghana in which the next generation has the knowledge and confidence to harness the power of technology to achieve economic and personal fulfillment.

Ghana Code Club has gradually become champions for coding education in Ghana, driving results through program design and delivery, strategic industry and public partnerships, research and advocacy.
